Last year I had to leave newly planted seeds in the care of my mate while I was away on emergency. They never germinated as far as I could tell, which I put to my mate's lack of familiarity with seed watering.

However I'm trying them again this year and not getting any germination from the same packet, sourced from Pinetree Garden Seeds. I had the impression these would be easy if I just surface sewed, misted the surface so that it did not dry out or wash seeds down deep, kept in a sunny place, protected from chill (brought the punnets indoors when temps would be below 55F).

Any suggestions?
