Yikes - you hit the motherlode. Pics above look like juvenile Fernwood. I feel for you, an hour's drive and you're going to want to bring back more than just one....Buying multiple sans is a hard habit to break!

OH you are sooo lucky. I can honestly say that I am jealous! We don't have anything within an hours drive...even hour and a half. They are beautiful what ever they're named. A shopper after my own heart. Just pick a favorite but just don't tell the other sans. I did that with my Moonshine, or was it the Eve, or the Whitney. No wait, I think it's the...kirkii var pulchra Coppertone I recently received from an incredibly kind donor. It's absolutely amazing.

Guys I was so stoked. I was there over an hour and finally decided on 4. They said "the man" comes every few weeks with all kinds of plants. That's all they were willing to tell.

The plants weren't priced either. They loosely went by pot size. The very full pots with plants peeking out were $35. 12 inch pots were 25. I didn't ask about the very tall ones yet. 3 regular sized (8-10 inch) ones I bought for 12 each (even though they were bursting) and the little green one was 7. It was part of a dish so they took some and potted it for me.

I got the feeling not many people buy their Sans. Some of these plants are described as slow growing but they are HUGE. They need to be divided in a major way. I've never seen anything like it. And when I frowned at some of the prices the lady readily said we can work something out.

As for id, I've got 2 votes for Fischeri on the 1 st one. Parva for the 2nd. Fernwood for the 3rd. We all agreed yesterday's post was Siam Silver.

Suffice it to say, I'm a happy camper and the 2 ladies there and I will become fast friends!

I got to stay away from those places or else my wife will throw me and my plants out. She said I got too many now, but I really love some of those I saw.

Just 1 more won't hurt. A small one? My husband has been pretty good about it so far. We've even discussed building a small greenhouse for the winters. I'm a very low maintenance wife so if all I want is plants, he's happy!

That's quite a nursery Katrina, I'm definitely going to stop there if I can find the time to go see my daughter in San Antonio. I see quite a few that I recognize, bagamoyensis or arborescens, bacularis/singularis, possibly some H-13's. The ones with the long stolons in the large pic at 5th level down is gracilis.

On your new sans, I said privately that I thought your first pic was fischeri.

Second pic. Based on the mottled banding, it could be dooneri, but pics can be deceiving. The mottling is bright and numerous, my dooneri's are less so. If the leaves are very narrow it's probably parva, but if wider I think it's dooneri. How long and wide are the leaves????

3rd pic could be Fernwood but could also be Stellette or maybe Stella. I'll have to refresh my memory with some Google pics, Sanseverix would be a good start.

Katrina, if you didn't get an ID with Siam Silver, then there's a problem. I have SS and Manolyn from more than one source each, and I can't tell them apart unless I look at a label. I have some that I've lost the label, I just put a question mark on a new one. No way to tell which is which.

Russ, I did NOT get an ID with SS. As I matter of fact, I suggested that name and she looked it up right then and there and agreed. At this point, you guys know more about their plants than they do.

I believe the 2nd pic is Patens based on Google pics and the Sanseverix site. I'll give u measurements when I get home. The 3rd pic looks more like Fernwood or Stellette - mainly Fernwood. I put my plant right beside the photos on my laptop and compared leaves, growth pattern and colors.

Unless we have a Court Hearing, I'm off on Fridays, so I'll plan on the 17th. I'll be sure to take pics of the new stuff and try and get closeups of leaves and pups to help with possible IDs.

I'm sorry the names are so confusing Katrina, that's what we deal with in sansevierias. Siam Silver is a perfectly good name to use, and it is the newer name.

I agree on Fernwood or Stellette, just going by which one is hot on the market right now, it's more likely to be Fernwood. Stellette isn't very common. Fernwood seems to have more leaves per rosette than Stellette.

Let me know what the leaf dimensions are on your 2nd pic. Hmmm, regarding patens, it has cylindrical leaves vs yours which looks mostly flat.

Russ, I wrote "paten" but I meant parva. I was wondering why u said my leaves are flat but paten is cylindrical! Sorry about that. The width of the largest leaf is just under an inch and length is 12-3/4 from the base of the growth to the tip. Here's a closeup of the base.

My parva doesn't have that much striation. Could it be dooneri?

Not a problem on patens, Katrina. I knew there was an error somewhere.

The only dimension that tells me anything is the leaf width, it's wider than a parva is supposed to be by a quarter inch. Also the pattern on the leaf looks more like dooneri to me. Lori, I thought the same thing but Chahinian says parva pattern can be bright or dull depending on the clone.

I'm leaning toward dooneri. Darn this is hard doing IDs from pics, I was hoping to nail down a name for Katrina.
