OTR Microwave size

We are renovating the small kitchen in our beach house - limited by budget and room size. We need an OTR microwave (30"). Our stove is basic, so fan/venting with the microwave should be more than sufficient. The problem is size. The old unit was about 15.5" high. All the new models I have found are taller than that, and it makes the clearance pretty uncomfortable for cooking on the stovetop. No drawer space or countertop space for any other style microwave.i

Anybody know of small OTR models I should consider?

I have also been looking for a smaller OTR microwave. My old unit was same as yours and also not as deep as the newer models.

GE spacesaver is a smaller microwave.

I don't think they make the Spacemaker for OTR anymore. Couldn't find it on thei GE website.

Can you put it in a cabinet and get a small hood or alter existing cabinet?

The smallest (height) now a days is 16 1/2 ", GE model. What they did is they moved the vents from the from to the top which makes the microwave a little taller and deeper than your old one. Is your range gas?? If so I believe you need 24' clearance between the burner and the bottom of microwave.
