(apologies....I cannot spell this plant 's name this evening. Correction welcome)
This small leafed stephanadra is 20 years old and 10 feet across. Do you think it could tolerate one of the less weighty clematis growing over it?
Stephanadra is slow growing. I think if I can get the clematis well established it will be able to grow up through the shrub as the shrub expands.
Are there some clems that don't need a lot of water? That's the pinch; I don't water the shrub.
Or maybe there's another vine I could use. The stephanadra is a fine groundcover but its basically green or twiggy brown all year. It's a waste not to have some flowers on it!
