My trellises are not wood. They are made out of TREX decking material. These are left over pieces that I had after a deck project. I make my own trellises. They last longer than wood. The ones I have right now, are around ten years old. I also use fishing lines on these to aid the clematis climb. Pampered clematis LOL. I was smitten by clematis bug 12 years ago and have kept on adding. I have now about 50 different plants. Ran out of sunny spots in my one acre yard. Now only shade or deep shade spots are left. So I have slowly moved into planting Hellebores. Hellebores are also the same family as clematis. They are not vines and does not need any trellis support. Further they thrive in shade.

That is my vegetable garden. See the picture below. Hey I have lot of free time at my hand. I work just 4 days (10 hours). So gets three day weekends.

That one is Clematis Carnaby. I bought it from Walmart five years ago. The last two years it has been flowering profusely. Hope this info helps.

natureinspired, If you like Carnaby, check out Piilu, (sometimes called little duckling in the US) as well. First blooms from previous year's vines are double, later blooms from new growth are single.

@NHBabs thanks for the suggestion. Yes I love the color combination of Carnaby. Googled for some images of little duckling and have to say I'm totally hooked. It's like getting Carnaby with a double bonus

My Carnaby is reluctant to climb on to the trellis. It is sitting on a very sunny deck. I tried a few times to tie it on to the trellis and gave up. During the flowering season a least 50 new shoots emerge from the pot. I never overwinter them. It sits on the deck year round. Most shoots instead of climbing on to the trellis cascade down. Hence the current effect. The only fertilizer, I use is alfalfa pellets from Tractor Supply and occasional Alaska fish fertilizer slurry - just in case you are interested.

For some reason I am unable to post Photo's of my Clematis - Can someone help me?

I'm not an expert with this forum but when I click in the box to 'comment' on something, just below are a bunch of options (bold, italic, etc.) and one of them is 'photo'. When I click on that it asks me if I want to take a picture or go to my library. I usually go to my library and just select the photo I want and it loads. You have to do this for each photo. Hopefully, this helps a bit.

Try using your laptop or desktop computer instead of an iPad. I find it easier that way. Type your message and then click on the camera icon to choose the picture. As serendipity44(5) suggested you will have to do this for each picture.

I am using my Laptop computer - I don't own an IPad. It still doesn't work. I click on 'photo', chose my picture, but it doesn't work. When I click on 'photo' it does NOT ask mme if I want to take a picture or go to my library. So I don't know what is wrong and why I can't download and post photo's.

After choosing the photo from your picture folder, there are two options "open" and "open as read only". Choose the "open" option, and the picture should immediately populate into Houzz. Could be that you are using the "open as read only" option. Just toggle to change it to "open" . I tried to paste a screen shot, but since the file size was too large, it did not allow me to post. Try the above and post back. If it doesn't work, please provide a phone # where you can be reached. I will walk you thru.

Aluvaboy, I love the juxtaposition of the cactus and Carnaby! You have some lovely plants and have clearly been bitten by the clematis bug. I am also enjoying the variety and creativity of your trellising structures.

maximus2015, I don't know what you are using for a browser, but I have seen mentioned that some versions of Microsoft Explorer don't upload photos well. Others have said that changing browsers to Chrome or Foxfire (both reliable browsers with free downloads) or using a different version of Explorer will solve the issue with photo uploading on GW. My problem with uploads is that I live in a rural area with the only options for internet involve extremely slow uploads, several minutes per photo, so I don't post many photos due to the time involved.
