Very few manufacturers are making quality reproduction nowadays.I had a chance to buy Eames lounge chair replica from manhattan home design. They have Eames chair replica at a very reasonable price. I picked the chair little early I guess and missed a discount on it! Anyway if you are looking for a quality replica, you must check them out.

An original in fabric not really . I had cats for a long time they never ruined our leather keep their nails clipped and have some good scratching posts.

I had an original AND cats and they never bothered it. Little girls with metal-buckeled sandals were a disaster.

However, I've never seen an unlicensed version with fabric. Which is a shame, since I couldn't possibly afford the Vitra version.

FWIW: My parents have cats and leather sofas – no problem. In fact, I'd be more cautious with fabric than with leather. Leather seems extremely durable to me.

Hello all -- I too am looking for a fabric version because of cats. But I just need to caution folks that cats *can* do serious damage to leather furniture. They may not like the texture of some leathers, thus leaving it alone, which might be the case for some of the people who have commented here. But once they've clawed a leather chair or sofa they will keep clawing it unless you are right on top of regular nail clipping. I have, sadly, a few of leather pieces in my basement that have been poked and shredded I to oblivion, but I just don't have the heart to get rid of them yet... But as for the Eames chair, it is certainly at some advantage already due to the molded wood framing. There are simply fewer places available at the typical cat-scratching level and orientation (vertical surface, about 18 to 24 inches high). It seems that the only spots at risk with this chair are the sides of the ottoman and the rear of the seat cushion.

Cats will be cats….you need to have their claws trimmed regularly to protect your furniture. I like cats but only other people’s cats.

Eames , or more correctly Herman Miller, originally included several models in fabric which are well documented. i gather they are re-issuing them, although in rather bland fabric rather than some of the 60’s styles first considered.
