S.t. laurentii 'Argentea'

I was at the plant store this evening seeking new promising plants and amongst their usual sea of Sans, I saw this one that stood out. I recognized it from studying Juan Chahinian's Sans trif book as 'Argentea'. You can really see the contrast between it and a regular laurentii in the foreground. I also took a shot of what I thought might be S.t. 'Slipped Stripes' but I'm not as sure about that. Any weigh ins would be appreciated.

Here's my opinion about the Slipped Stripes/ Lillian True. Read closely on the photo page of Lillian True. It is a very dark black/green, with no markings. The yellow is a rich gold, and the leaves will all have different striping on front and back of the leaf. It really is a lovely plant. There are two different plants in this pot, Lillian True is the tall one with a small Forescate in the lower right. Sadly, I have lost almost all of this pot. You can see some faint cross bar markings, but that is on the newest growth, and disappears on the mature leaves.

This page is from "The Sansevieria Book" by Hermine Stover. It is the description of Lillian True, now also called Slipped Stripes.

I don't have an opinion on the names, but they are lookers! My new place has dinosaurs, but your place has Marilyn Monroes and Rhett Butlers...very attractive plants, ;-)

Thanks for the description akrrm. I haven't yet found the book at a price I'm willing to pay.

I read that differently Akrrm. He was saying the one he called 'Chinatown' was akin to Slipped Stripes. When was this book published?

Well, you got me beat, girl! It seems all you mentioned are very elusive. I saw one 'Forescate' on eBay but it was $50 with shipping. Sigh. If only I were wealthy.

I concur with Barb. Lillian True is offered for sale at a nursery near me for a high price, but I was able to get a piece from a seller on eBay who was local. I've also seen it at The Huntington. It's a very elegant looking Sans for sure. Katrina's metaphor of the "dinosaurs" is a good one! Love those desert and savanna Sans! Lillian True is like the Victorian lady in comparison.
