I would do wall sconces. They send light up and or down or both depending on the style. Up lighting will reflect off the ceiling and light up the room nicely and it's an indirect form of light which is the best. If you look at the last picture with the floor lamp in the corner you will see how nice and bright the ceiling is above the lamp. If you do scones all around the room you will get the same effect.

That is one very dark room maybe painting the wood wall and adding more than one lamp if youwant cove lighting you will have to build a cove and IMO this space does not suit that type of lighting and again I ask is there no other color for sofas in the U.S. but brown

Or a ton of recessed lights down the whole length of the room?
