Pale plantlets

One of my leaves, when rooted, has produced plantlets which are a pale, yellowish white. All the others are producing the normal green. I'm using the same growing mixture and wick-watering set-up on all.

Is this an infection of some sort ? Is it a problem ?

If you are rooting a variegated leaf - it is a common problem. Let it sit with a mother leaf still attached and wait what happens. They will eventually green up.

Thank you. This is my first AV with variegated leaves so I didn't know.

I've got three of the leaves; only one has produced plantlets, the pale ones so far.

So...I'll wait and see; I've got enough for experimentation and still have one AV that matches the description.

Here's a pic of the pale leaves; they haven't started greening at all.

You can see the green on the one next to it.

Leon, they look good and I think if you call Miss P., before you know it they will fall into place! They will green up!

My plant of Modesty suddenly showed nothing but variegated leaves and I was very afraid. But I just kept taking care of her and as the leaves became secondary they got the green color back. I realize she was an adult plant, but I think yours will be ok. Good luck!!!! Rosie

Yup - patience is a gift. Very typical for variegated leaves - and most of the time they grow out of it without our help...

Looking good Leon! Am I wrong, or are tbkse plantlets starting to look readt for new homes? I have successfuly grown rootless suckers fsr less than half that size... but solid green, which likely helped. Asking as I have my first leaf plantlets forming and wondering also whe. It is good to separate.

You're right; my problem is that I'm undergoing an extreme paroxysm of laziness. I'll separate them soon.

Lazy is ok Leon. Rest up,,,,and THEN attack the separating of the violets! lol Seriously though,,,I would rather they for sure have enough roots to get them going than to do it too soon and have to put them in NICU and worry and possibly lose them! Rosie

I have a rationale... if you do not want to do it now - there is a reason - may your or cosmic energy in not in alignment with a plant energy. When you will develop a serious desire to repot - get to it - they will respond beautifully - and you will enjoy the process.

Irina you are right. There are times I get a thought to do something, start to do it but,,,,,,,hmmm not just now. I call it "the universe speaking to me". Do I always listen??? Nope,,,but you know me. Do I regret it???? Sometimes. I try to listen when the universe speaks because "it" knows more than I do!!!! Take that break Leon,,,,,and do it when you know you SHOULD!!!!!
