Ascorsonelli, Intresting choice! I fear too much beige in the living room!! walls are beige and chairs.. hmm
  • 10 years ago
How about in the dining room? the scroll fabric?..

Did Bev change the picture? Scrolled through (several times) looking for the true buffalo check she'd posted. Only see the small check now. Hmm.... Maybe I'm going crazy??

I liked Maureen's choices for curtains too. Regardless, don't do the scroll (please!?)

Happy 11th btw! Celebrating 10 today myself :):)

Scrolls in the DR could work! IMHO. You have a rather plain rug there and it might play nicely off those blue walls. Where's Grover to work her PS magic when we need her??

yes seems like Beverly removed her posts.?! idk why...

YES! I personally really like this combo.

look at all the coordinates? mine is at the bottom...
I'm not that fond of the scroll in here. It's a bit to formal and to much blue with the blue walls too! Much prefer the check.

Your centerpiece is very similar to the one Lynn put up...very pretty. I think if you paint the bottom white (like in Lynn's pic) you don't need a runner :)

I like the idea of painting the bottom..I actually made this arrangement..was a little nervous.. bought it all at Joanne's today ...!! Glad it came out ok!!

Oh and Very Happy Anniversary to you ladies!

    Yes...happy anniversary :)

    Thanks too too to A...

Well, I'm a lot older than you young ladies but I think you need hipper art here! Not a big fan of this mass produced stuff but you get an idea. I would look for something done by a local artist or see about looking for something at all the wonderful art shows they have up your way in the summer!
But if you have a more traditional bent you might try botanicals. They have a nice graffic quality.
Lynartist I love that "Embrace" art! I may have to steal that for my renovated living room!
Lynn I need to expand my Art gallery...aka..i have none..know nothing about it... just that the fruit bowl art looks really nice?! lol
  • 10 years ago
I like botanicals; a bit more affordable but classic. Have a set of four of these in my dining room from Chelsea house.
it is classic, right!!? I like it!!

No to buffalo- if fairly romantic and also prominent blue rug- mini checks, yes.

As we discussed before, this is a personal choice. Either check will work here in my opinion.

Yes, I like the Buffalo check, but it is a personal choice. I was going to buy those same buffalo check curtains from Ballard Designs and went to the new store near me to see them. They didn't have any of them in the store or a fabric sample. Check out the Madeline Stripe Linen panel on their site. I saw that fabric in person and loved the look plus the great quality of the fabric, so I bought them instead and love them. The stripe looks grey in the pic, but it is actually a cool taupe color. The designer there said that the Buffalo check in natural is a bit of a warmer beige. Hope this helps!

Thank you Elizabeth Z..good advice. I am just getting tired of returning items etc.. but I know it's a process..my husband thinks I am obsessed about designing..but I am just cautious..

I hear you! I decorate by experimentation and that means returns! BTW, I got my curtains at 25% off due to a recent special sale. They have sales all the time. Good luck, you are doing a great job. My husband has come to understand that I am trying to create a beautiful home. I once offered to turn the decorating over to him and he declined. :-) Once guests came over and complimented us on our lovely home and style, he never complained again!!

Would you consider doing custom? Is there a Calico Corners in your area so you could at least go look at the different fabrics with your floral print to see which one you prefer? Of course they would cost considerably more but it may be worth at least looking.

Many would say in an open space the same curtain fabric. Cause I like that sameness, are you keeping the navy rug? Is it the only navy so far?

The other colors seem used more [in upholstered chair/ paint]?

How would navy relate with new scroll fabric and with small checks and buffalo checks? Thanks.

As said earlier - this photo's buffalo is not neutral - but see how nice with different chandelier than your elegant one. [I'm trying to say the smaller check seems nice.]

Smaller pattern seems to let shapes and [navy rug] shine:
