I agree. Beneficial insects love it, but every tiny flower will produce seeds and next year you'll have a million more of those plants than you have now., and you'll be yanking them out for the next 50 years. I yank out every one of them that sprouts in my actual garden beds where I grow veggies, herbs, flowers and fruit, but leave them in out of the way places like the pastures, or along the chicken run fence.

I do like them next to the fence, but I could tell it was getting waaaay out of control!

I didn't dare put them in the compost! They were already starting to go to seed. I took Dawn's warning to heart and they are going straight to the landfill :) I did pull a number of them a couple of weeks ago and added those though.

Almost as bad as The Great Perilla Massacre of 2015 at our house last year.

Change of subject. Lisa, did you bring the coneflower to me at Spring Fling? It's so pretty. Thank you, if so. The seeds I scattered around back in the fall are coming up too, but yours (?) is already flowering and I love it.

I'm sorry I can't remember who brought what. Speaking of...does anyone know who brought the Super Sonic tomatoes? I took one and the fruit is almost ready. Yay! and thanks to that person.

Yes, I brought the coneflower. You are so welcome! They self seed into my path, so just about every spring I have a batch that needs a home! I spread a thick layer of mulch today though, so that may stop them next spring.

I think that all of us have coneflowers from Lisa in our garden. It is part of our whole gardening family thing, which is one of my favorite things about the swap---having plants given to me by friends there in the garden to remind me of them.

I brought the SuperSonic and am glad it is doing well for you. It is one of the best producers in my garden, and often produces heavy loads of fruit even in really bad drought years. You're welcome, and I hope it continues to do well over the summer. It seems able to just outgrow and outlast any disease issues that pop up, which makes it very valuable in a wet year when foliar diseases run rampant.
