This is exactly why I don't have tons of adeniums. It will take years before I can cull the hundreds I'm going to end up planting.

I'll give them away if I have to. The only thing mine have to fear is a hurricane! I couldn't possibly move them all.

I fear that soon, I will be evicted, asked to vacate the premises! How did I become so ridiculous? My kitchen table is covered with com-pots, loaded with hybrid, obesum seedlings. Who has the time to wet-nurse all these babies? Now, I just ordered 100 more "yellow" seeds. I need a good psychiatrist!

I agree no way you can know the flower color before you see a flower but you may be overly pessimistic about your chances of getting a yellowish flower. You may get zero you may get several. Hybridization can create very reliable seed strains that are very uniform. It just takes many generations. Since it may take a few years for an adenium to flower it is a slow process.

Todd, thanks for the encouraging comments. I am not too particular when it comes to the yellow colored flowers. I'm hoping for some pastel, creamy blends, with single blossoms. And, the smaller the flowers the better. Pinks....I can't. All pinks will get donated to the local schools/nursing homes, etc.

So, I'll never know what I'm growing until the seedlings bloom. I figured as much. But, that's the fun of it all.

I have a batch of seedlings from last year no flowers on them yet but I can already tell of the 20 or so, several will be neat plants. I'm interested in the compact types and a few are tiny. But others are very vigorous.

Our seedlings only took a couple of years to flower. but they were mostly pink shading to quite a dark red. You can eventually predict quite a lot about the flowers from the way the leaves look. Good luck!

Sara P...Just how does one predict flower colors/characteristics by looking at the leaves? Is it a pigmentation thing, or vein/stem coloration?
