GROWING 'VARIEGATED' CHALICE VINE....ADVISE

Hi. I have both chalice 'vines'.. As you know it is a VERY think stemmed vine. My plain green leafed one grows like a weed! Have it cut back to a shrub form. BUT my variegated one has never grown all that well. I get maybe 3 bloom each year, around Oct. from it.

My all green one puts of hundreds of flowers. But the Var. one barely grows, and like I said, only puts out like 3 flowers on a 6 foot tall plant. The flowers are 25% bigger than the green ones bloom, but it has NO aroma. The flowers look identical, almost, ill post the two here...how do i get this one to grow bigger and put out some 'vine' !

I have never cut it back, it never grows enough to cut. My green one I HAVE to cut back monthly, or it grows all over the place. I stop in August, so I dont cut off any blooms. Its flowers are SO fragrant. I get dozens of seed pods, but they all rot on the vine. I have tried to plant the few seeds i can find, but its easier to root cuttings. So...anyone have the Variegated one, and know how to grow it? Is south Fla. to hot for it? It is a tropical vine, but maybe it is for cooler areas? The regular one sure loves the sun/heat! Any advise? thanks.

see the slight difference in the flowers? The variegated one is bigger and more open, but it produces NO seeds, and the bloom turns deep gold after the first night it opens. The green one, the flower is smaller, but is VERY fragrant. This is the BEST the Variegated one has looked....this past Dec. It now looks half this well.
