There is a product you can get at the hydroponics store. I believe it is called "Hydrocorn". In Thailand they are using a similar product as what Stuart mentions. Small round clay colored marble looking stuff. These are like Hydro Pellets, but they are much smaller and the Hydroponics stores here only carry the larger pellets.

You want the small ones.

Aquarium gravel can sometimes be bought in different colours and chicken grit and horticultural alpine grit in shade of well, just brown! All depends on your personal taste.

Aquarium gravel stones may fit your requirements if you wish to decorate the tops of the pots. I had tried to grow them in total media of hydroton but they did not grow well so I have changed back to coco coir for 2/3 rd of every pot on top and I fill the bottom 1/3 rd with hydroton so that the water drains off fast but the pot has ait movement inside. So far the plants are doing okay. Hydroton is available on Amazon, but if I was you I would go for grow stones which are being used by many folks here as they are better than hydroton

My local nursery has different bags of decorative rock to top off planters. I have also used aquarium gravel, It comes in different sizes.

i've used pea gravel, aquarium gravel, Glass gems/marbles, decorative rock and Flourite looks nice (black & brown) after you rinse it off.
