Sweet Autumn Clematis??

Hello everyone! I Went to a store and bought a Clematis that is labeled sweet autumn clematis paniculata. The picture shows white flowers that I see in a Google search on this variety, but this clematis has purple flowers. They had many of this variety for sale all with the same tag. is the plant I have a sweet autumn Clematis or is this mislabeled? Thanks!

That is what I thought. The tag definitely says sweet autumn. I know that from past experience that labels aren't always correct but all the plants had the same label with purple flowers.

As far as I know, SAC is only white. I wonder if you got a Sweet Summer Love? I ask because I've been seeing more and more of them in our nurseries.

Definitely not SAC, hopefully someone here can ID it. Beautiful flowers.

You got a very nice clematis even if it remains NOID. Also not sweet autumn which has very small blossoms. Throw the tag away as it is definitely not sweet autumn. I have seen whole flats of clematis mislabeled at the big box stores. I expect they are mislabeled when they are planted at the growers.

I think you came out better in the long run. Sweet autumn can be a bit of a thug, and I really like the color on the one you got.

The color is what caught my eye at store. I was surprised to see the name on the tag because I was at a nursery earlier in the day and was looking at a SAC and it wasn't in bloom yet. I thought perhaps SAC came in purple as well due to all the plants having the label at the other store. I was intrigued with the SAC because one of the nursery employees said the fragrance was outstanding. Thanks for your input, I will keep this unknown variety and hope for the best.
