Night stand debacle...

New bed, and I have two night stands where the scale seems wrong (to me)... And I have to mid century dressers that seem to work better.

Can we have a poll?

Who wears it better? Thanks!

The one on the right. Need "light" in the room. But I am no expert.

Bad 'light'ing. Ha! Thanks! The right is what I think, too.

I also agree with the right! You want your nightstand to be just a little taller than your bed. You do need a bigger lamp as well!

I have two larger lamps (they are from the 90's) and were a deep maroon. I spray painted them silver but I may consider a pop of color as I have white shades for them. I just need to figure out what color. Or maybe just a plain black.

Thanks Patricia! I don't have a picture of the entire room. But the window to the right buts up to our bathroom door! Ugh. And that large dresser is on its way out. I'm ordering a smaller, more modern one from IKEA. Think the MALM. Or some similar styling.

Looks much better, good job! Maybe another lamp on the other table. You will regain some visual space by removing the larger dresser too.

And I had a matching lamp.... That is MIA. Ha

I like the mid century pieces too! What about taller orange lamps? That colour just seems to go with the mid century look!;) If not in the lamps, then in pillows or a couple of accent pieces?

It's been quite a while since I've posted but here is an update!

I have slooooowly pieced my room together. Still hunting smaller scaled lowboy dresser.

Just scored those lamps from Goodwill. I've had those lamp shades for almost a year from target clearance for $4 each.

All my sheets are vintage I've hunted and I use a flat as my duvet/protector of my white down since I have dogs and kids. I change them weekly and it changes the entire room.
I need some 2X3 rugs on the side of my bed that are a nice neutral to not fight with my wall art and pillowcases.

    Any suggestions?

I can't get a photo with natural light. It's dark here today.

Hi, I like it, although design is difficult for me. We just moved into a new house last week. I too am trying to figure out the night stand thingy. Good luck. I think it looks great!

    Thanks Kaycee!

Design is difficult for me as well. Although, I have learned over time that finding one thing you really LOVE or that speaks to you helps ease the process. Slowly building around that makes me happy.

I was a serial buyer in my past design life. I need to finish NOW and it always felt a little forced/currently trendy which really isn't me anyhow.
I've been working on my house for two years (renovation included) and it's been a constant process. And it's happened organically.
I found that picture at a big box store and I just adore it. I've slowly built my room around it with my preferred styles and it just has really (and slowly) turned out well. I'm very pleased.
