Have you tried a second coat of the silver? I think a consistent silver would look better than white. The glass already looks frosted, or is it simply still covered on the inside with paper from the silver painting process?

Currently that's about 3 coats of spray paint. The problem is reassembling the frame in the shower tears up the paint. The entire bathroom is a white theme with frosted windows. The glass looks frosted from the over spray. I have yet to scrape it clean and then apply the frosted vinyl.

Ideally I could apply the paint after it's been installed.

Ahh those gold shower doors - we had them too. Could you put a varnish on the silver to make it shiny? From the pic, it looks like a pewter look - perhaps a little dull but I like the color, and compared to that 80's gold, I think it is a big improvement. If you could add a satin or shine to it, it might really improve it. I'm not a fan of the white idea.

Not happening, get a new unit.
