Just starting a new thread for my discussion w/Tim, it's kinda slow here anyhow. Pods seem to be swelling on these:

'Captain Jack' X R. delavayi

'Jenny Tabol' X 'Evening Glow'

'Jenny Tabol' X 'Captain Jack'

(tetraploid minus X fastigiatum) X R. augustinii 'Cerulean Mist'

'Old Copper' X 'Leo' (hope is to get a tighter truss, orangey-red color)

R. delavayi X 'Evening Glow' (small possibility it will produce some interesting colors...was a rare chance to cross an early species with a late hybrid, due to the crazy weather this spring!)

Maybe worked, still not sure:

'Leo' X R. delavayi

(max X calophytum) X R. delavayi (could produce a large, extremely fast growing, extremely rot resistant plant...maybe just a few seeds produced, the style of max X calophytum was very long compared to the style of R. delavayi so maybe the pollen couldn't germinate that far?)

Did not appear to work, unless the seed pod swells much later:

R. augustinii 'Cerulean Mist' X (tetraploid minus X fastigiatum)

I hybridized a lot with 'Captain Jack' but it's just such a darn spectacular plant. A bit floppy is the only fault, but the flowers are huge, in a good truss (not that I care about that nearly as much as some people; I shudder to think of how many nice looking hybrids Murcott tossed over the years for not having a perfect ball!) , always a good deep red, etc. etc. The new growth is silvery like a species.
