I use a thirsty towel to wick it up.

Watering too much at one time ? Estimate how much water to use...it is a realistic goal. ☺

I am wondering if a large coil of rope might work in each saucer--like a big wick. I would try putting it down after I water and taking it up once it is saturated. That way it would not mildew and would be reusable.

For the trees in my living room, I use a battery powered pump to suck out the excess into a plastic tub. It was fairly cheap at the local auto supply shop.

Does a decent job. Sometimes I suck out the small leftover amount with a modified turkey baster but it's not really necessary.

When I watering inside I let my pots drain into black plastic grow trays for a couple minutes before putting them back onto their shelves.

Plant dollies? You can slid drip containers under them.

Use a turkey baster. (No need to launder icky towels!)

OK if your water stands in saucers, then fill your saucers with material? Gravel sand etc.. siphoning a 1/4 inch amount of water out of a saucer seems silly?

Not knowing what kind of pots you have I will say to water from the bottom. The water needed will be wicked up to the roots at the bottom of the pot.

Any water remaining in the saucer will quickly evaporate. Give it a go - I seriously doubt it will attract mosquitoes.

I bought a water cannon gun that's used by kids playing in the pool. Stick the nozzle in the tray pull handle up to take in water, dispense in a watering can and then dump outside or in your utility sink.

Wondering about this too. We have pots around the pool. The saucers fill up after heavy rain and then sit there for ages, or overflow into the pool next time it rains.
