I think the wall color on the fireplace/bookcase wall is too intensely orange that it competes with the wood color. I think it would be better if it was painted the same color as the window wall.

I agree that the butterscotch is too close to the wood color and they are fighting, but I probably would not add more of the tan. Maybe??
Two ideas . . .
1. Paint that wall a sage/moss green
2. Paint the fireplace the same tan and paint the backs of the shelves a deep orange red that matches the pillow/ accents you already have.

3. Might want to go lighter on the fireplace than the wall and use the red on the backs of the shelves ?

Thanks for your comments. What I was asking about was a color for the trim around the windows and elsewhere in the living and kitchen area as it seemed like so much "Harvester." But the more I sit with the current colors, I am thinking that the molding should be the same color as the room. The room isn't tan it is a deep yellow. If it were tan, I think the moss might be lovely around the fireplace. The wood around the fireplace needs to be lightened with lemon oil and fine steel wool. Also the cabinets on either side of the fireplace need to be replaced.
