Sharp blasts of water. Or, wait them out, they usually don't stick around once it heats up. Sevin is not required.

Water would be my first choice as well but failing that, prepared insecticidal soap (not your homemade stuff) works very well. Just don't spray when bees are present but any residual is harmless to them.

I'll third the water. I'm outside daily, with a spray bottle that is set to sniper mode lol. I've become quite the sharpshooter at this point ha!

Doesn't seem like it's a great way to stop them because it doesn't actually kill them. Apparently they are too slow and stupid to make their way back up to the plant, and they are either eaten or starve to death before they can.

Unfortunately, I'm not out there enough to be able to do the water torture. And I realized after I posted this that it can't be aphids. Something else is eating the roses, but I don't know what. I haven't seen any Japanese beetles. Anyway, I'll give the insecticidal soap. Thanks all!

I've been having GREAT luck with cold pressed neem oil, I get it from neem tree farms, in fact I'm out and am desperately waiting for the next neem quart to get to me as the cucumber beetles and stink bugs are decimating my cucumber plants and others.
