I'm super allergic to Jerusalem sage so can't speak to that one, but the dwarf Barbados cherry is very slow growing from my experience with it...

Wow, I had no idea Jerusalem Sage caused allergies in some people! I guess I don't have that problem or I would've known after handling it.

I wished I'd known that about the Barbados Cherries. I got the 4" pots figuring they grow reasonably fast. Oh well, they're healthy and have produced a few flowers even, so that's something.

Well, I think my question answered itself, at least in regard to the Mexican Honeysuckle. I took a look at them tonight and noticed that just in the past few days they started to take off. My guess is they just needed some consistent 90 + degree weather to get going.

I have found that the saying "The first year they sleep, the second year they creep, the third year they leap" to be very true for some plants in my yard. Some show signs of nothing the first year. The second year, there is a little movement. The third year, they take over! A lot of woody plants are that way.
