Backyard story

last modified: 10 years ago

We bought a fixer upper in 2003, and had to clear the land like pioneers. I developed a great dislike for ailanthus "trees of heaven."

One we had cleaned it up the only way to get any use out of it was to enclose it. It was a long skinny boring patch. I already was toying with idea of a winding path. We improvised one out of random slabs and bricks.

Some changes in elevation helped divide up the space.

Adding some architecture also helped....

Luckily it took only ten years or we might have gotten bored.
