Small home; HUGE Iris!

The rain and wind knocked down my new iris while I was gone on my trip. I should have staked the growing stalk before I left.

It may be down, but it's not out. The bloom is much larger than my big ole swollen hand, even with all the chubby fingers spread out. I'll measure it (the iris!) tomorrow.

This one stalk has had seven blooms. They are very fragrant.

Such a pretty one too. Hate it when this happens.

We had a violent storm here Tuesday night, with 60 mph winds that brought a huge tree branch down. Oddly enough, my 7' tall sunflowers, out in the open with nothing to block the wind, survived unscathed. I was sure that they would have been flattened. I'd love to see what they looked like at the height of the storm- they are either very strong, or very flexible.

Beautiful iris! I love the color. We had the big storm Wednesday night. Lots of wind and rain. Some lost power, but thankfully I did not. Just had some branches down, not too bad. That's amazing about the sunflowers making it through that wind unscathed!
