I wouldn't do drapes, but I would put some small artwook along the top. Like a collection of botanicals or shells. Whatever you like.

I'm not clear on the question. You (a) want to know whether you should paint the breakfast nook a different color than the rest of the room? why and in what direction? and (b) dislike something about the current window treatments? what do you like or dislike, and what are you hoping to accomplish with a change?

Yes, I thought about just painting the breakfast nook with a soft color to add a pop to the room and only in this breakfast nook area. I have shades over the bay window, but the area looks bland. I'm trying to decide if I need to put a valance over the shades or add something above the windows such as decor.

The triple sliding doors in the same room has floor length grey curtains and I wasn't sure if I needed to flow the same curtains into this bay window area.

I'm hoping to bring the large open area together.
