I purchased a very pretty African violet online. ( it was love at first sight, but I didnt know her name) she arrived very healthy and full of pink blooms.
she bloomed and bloomed to her hearts content...she didn't stop blooming. ( i think she liked me too)
I was enjoying the combination of double and single flowers. ( Kept things interesting between us)
Unfortunately, it didn't last very long.
I hate the soil that these sellers have the plants in, it doesn't work for my environment.

i completely bare rooted her, removed a bunch of leaves and cut off all of her roots to have her grow new roots in the gritty mix. :sad face::
i now have her with no roots in gritty mix inside of a bag for humididty

1- do i leave her in there until i see roots?

2- do i open the bag to air it out every now and then?

3 do i take her out and pour water through the mix every now and then?

I don't know what your gritty mix is made up of, but I think African Violets prefer a mix of AV mix and perlite. They like the soil damp and light which is difficult to do with what I know of gritty mix from growing succulents. Once it's in the proper damp mix, it should go in the bag for a couple of weeks. By then you should start to see new leaf growth. You can then open the bag each day and finally take it out. The blooms on your original plant are lovely!

Everything in moderation... it should be in a humid environment - but not soggy - and the bag can have a little vent... I have no idea what is your gritty mix is made from - probably Royals has a better feeling... The AVs need a certain pH to flourish - neutral to barely acid - pH = 6.2-6.8 - specialized AV soil is usually already adjusted for it. Otherwise - how gritty it is probably doesn't matter.

I second the 50/50 perlite/AV mix suggestion myself. Gritty mix works great for succulents and tons of tropicals and for a lot of plants is the best thing you could ever give them. I think the AV's would dry out too fast, and they need it pretty moist when re-rooting.

There are some videos on youtube someone on here showed me once and I will try to find one, about rehabbing AV's with long necks. Similar situation, in that both result in a rootless plant.
