I read the discussions on the Kerrii leaf cutting that looks 1 heart in the pot so I decided to do this myself (making sure I got part of the stem). It has been at least 10 months since I put this leaf in the pot and the other day I finally see a small shoot coming up.

Not the best way to start a new plant but it worked.

10 months - well that's a helpful. I may root a few this summer and save them for my cactus club's February meeting for their raffle. They should still be a single heart on V-day, but I will tell the recipients they can expect some growth that coming summer.

Good to know Laura, thanks for the update. The key would seem to be that you made sure you took some STEM too. I find it doubtful commercial vendors would take sure care.

Yes, very good info. I gave a 2 leaf/single node cutting to a friend last fall. Now I know what to tell her next time she askes me if it will ever grow for her.
