I picked up a hanging basket over the weekend at my local greenhouse on a 50% clearance sale. I had to do a lot of cleaning up of yellow or dry leaves and spent flowers. It still has some dry vegetation, mostly underneath, and some blooms that look spent but I am not sure I should keep picking them. I just looked up info on the varieties in this basket, and all are supposed to be "self-cleaning," ie, no deadheading required. What do you think? Do I keep obsessively cleaning this up to pick off dry and dead bits? Or just let it settle in a bit to its new home? I did give it a balanced liquid fertilizer drink yesterday.

By the way, the mix includes white verbena (seems to need deadheading the most), calibrachoa (yellow and gold), and a petunia variety called Cascadias Indian Summer. The petunias are particularly sticky, I noticed. Hoping that is normal for that plant (never usually choose petunias in baskets). Pics below of stuff I could still be picking off. Thanks for advice!
