Tree trading.

last modified: 10 years ago

I want to trade away a dekopon from Harris. It's young, healthy, but not wanted. I grafted a bud to my preferred rootstock and just want to keep my new graft.

I know it's a very long shot but I would like to get a valentine if someone is willing. Otherwise let me know what you have.

and obviously no trading if your in a quarantine

Vladimir, how many trees do you have?? I thought you did not have much space ;-). I can't believe you have a 38 year old calamondin. Please post a pic of that in the other thread!!!

Oh...I just realized that's the same as a Shiranui tree. I just got one from Harris yesterday! There was another with a similar name they did not have, but I got a nice Dekopon.

Pip, if you want a cutting from my Santa Teresa, I may be able to manage it. I can post pics and you can tell me if it's big enough.

    Ok.

    anyone want this dekopon?

Pip. if no ones really wants it, I would gladly accept it and take very good care of it. It might even find a place in ground in my greenhouse. Let me know

Pip, you already spoke to someone else just 11 minutes ago but I have been wanting dekopon for many years but no luck finding it. :-( And btw, why didn't you want dekopon? Rest of the world think this is the best of the best orange variety!

Your in Texas which is quarantined.

That is why I am not being able to get this variety and waiting for years and maybe more years to come :-(

You might be able to get budwood from California through the Texas program.

I grafted a bud to my rootstock of choice and don't want 2

Pip,. Here are a few shots of my Santa Teresa. Is it big enough to take a cutting? If so, you will need to instruct me on how and where...

It's tall and bushy enough but the stems are pretty thin. I wouldnt want you to trim it and not have the grafts take. Thank you for your offer but I think it's best you keep your tree how it is.

Sounds like a plan. If you still want one a year from now, we can re-evaluate.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I regret buying my Lisbon as it's just too plain. But it was my first order and I was a newbie

Pip, very kind of you))) Thank you. If you need my address I can provide that.

Laura, that is a beauty! That mix looks great too

I sent an email to the address you gave me a couple hours ago. Please check for it

Thanks Mike! I love the 5-1-1 mix. It's perfect for me because we don't get much wind and I can easily lift them without help - for now. I have to say that just judging by foliage, the Santa Teresa and Oro Blanco are the most beautiful trees I have even though they're young.

    This is the Oro Blanco...

Hi Pip, I sent you a response last night. Hope you got it

    Mike)

I did, I'm looking for a suitable box right now

Now that's a gorgeous tree Laura! My well water tends to leave white spots on my leaves, ugh.

Thanks Hobby! Yes, that tree has gorgeous leaves! Big, green and shiny. I can't wait for its famous flowers!

Very nice plant Laura. Did you see mine here (http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3982829/can-anyone-help-me-save-this-plant?n=6). What fertilizer do you use for your citrus? Thanks.

Silica is there any budwood you want from me?

Inkfin, thanks! I use Foliage Pro and Oscomote plus. I have almost all my trees in the 5-1-1 mix and they are all thriving. I saw your thread, but was unsure what to tell you. I would highly recommend the 5-1-1 mix and FP...those things have made a huge difference for my trees.

Laura, thank you for your advice. I also used 5-1-1 medium for my plant. I will try FP and see how it goes....I really would like to save this plant. I am in Texas and it is extremely difficult to find a good citrus variety as Texas does not allow to import citrus from out of state.

Inkfin, let us know how it goes!

I sure will, Thank you Laura.

Pip The Fukushu kumquat tree from seed twisted trunk experiment is almost over.

    early

Now and doing well. As seen below

If your tree has a devastating twist at the root to trunk area, let it grow it will do fine

    Pip, thank you.

Been busy helping my Mom out since my father was rushed to the hospital and does not seem to be coming out.

Mike (or do you prefer Micha?) I hope your father does recover. I lost two parents. My mother after a long illness, so I know what you are going through. My thought are with you.

Mike, so sorry to hear about your father. Prayers for him. It is tough but thank goodness you and your mother have each other to lean on. Take care.

Thank you so much Barb and Vladimir...I really appreciate your kindness and concern. I hope he gets better soon. I feel worst for my mother.

I'm sorry Mike. I lost my dad and stepdad within a few years of each other. I still miss them both. I hope he improves and is able to come home.

Mike I wish the best for you and your parents. My mom passed 15 months ago after a series of strokes over a 3 month period. My dad is gone upstairs.

Sorry to hear the news as well Mike. Hope you're hanging in there. I'm parentless now and I'm only in my 30s.

oh my..It saddens me to see you all here with lost parents. I am so sorry too. I wish life was not like that. It's just not right, especially loosing them at such a young age. This world can be sad and having trees as we do can certainly add a bit of joy to it for sure so can knowing people like you)

    Well said Mike.

    Thank you

Mike did you get my email?

Hey Pip. I have had no time to see my e-mail with all my Dad stuff going on....I don't get it here at work and when I leave here I am at the hospital...I get out early today and I promise I will take a peek..I may even get to sit at my own desk finally that allows me e-mail))

    Thank you.

No problem I just wanted to make sure it was received.

I did get them) For some reason I could on this computer, I couldn't respond but I am sitting at a different one later..I will write then) Thank you

I am sorry to hear about your father's illness Mike. My prayers to you and your family. I hope he recovers and gets well soon. Make sure to take care of yourself here and there, and take some time to surround yourself with the beauty of your plants.

And to everyone who lost a parent, my deepest condolences.

We almost lost my father due to an illness a few years ago. But, thankfully, after a long recovery, he is back on the mend and doing pretty well at 85.

Unfortunately our sweet mama had to go in a nursing home a month ago. It was only supposed to be temporary, but, she was diagnosed with progressive Alzheimers. She has other health related issues as well.

Jinnylea, thank you dearly for your kind words. They mean a lot for sure) I am so sorry to hear about your poor Mom..It would kill me to see anything happen to mine. You always think they will just keep on living and it sucks to see them get older..Seems like yesterday when we were all so young.

Pip..I GOT it! I just got home from a long day at work, 9:20 to be precise and I saw this wonderfully packed box by you. Thank you so much. Such a good job. It came in perfect condition. I could not go to bed without potting into the 5.1.1 mix and letting you know. Now I can go to bed. I love it. It;s a nice tree)

Tried to take pics in the dark but I will take better ones when it's light out.

I'm glad it arrived safe, I didn't know how it would show up.
