Beautiful! I bought one last year and it's doing really well this year, too, although the branches are going out at wild angles. I don't want to prune it yet though. Maybe after it's finished its first flush of blooming.

Mine has a couple branches laying on the ground. Am I right in thinking it might root where the branches are on the ground and I might get a few new bushes that way next year?

Yes, it is a lovely rose. I have 6 of them along my driveway and like you, no dieback this winter and were just flush with blooms.

Yes moderate fragrance, definitely noticeable with so many together. Some of the plants are more strongly scented, some a bit weak, but definitely all have fragrance. Shillanorth, yours are stunning, they look quite tall! I haven't had mine root from branches laying on the ground, but I have what appear to be suckers or basal breaks from planting them very deep, these are starting to look like new bushes.

I was given a "Hope for Humanity" rose a few years ago as a gift, which was obviously NOT HfH when it opened. I'm thinking it is Winnipeg Parks. Happy to hear you like yours.

I'll have to enjoy "Winnipeg Parks" vicariously through this thread, I've tried growing it at least two times and could never get it to come back.

How could some plants be more fragrant than others? They should all be genetically identical, so is it environmental? Or is there some variation among plants? Very interesting.

Good question, I am not sure at this point. Out of the six plants I have right now, two are definitely consistently stronger scented than the others.

I find scent also varies from the time of day and age of blooms. Newer blooms early in the morning have a stronger scent.

Marie Bugnet had no scent for me last year, but is much stronger this year.
