    STRAIGHT ARROW - fading out...

    STRETCH JOHNSON

    SWEET BEAUTY

    TAMORA

And just for the heck of it... here's a few of my chickies. They're growing up fast!!

    Frederika - Golden-laced Wyandotte 8weeks old

Henrietta - Easter-Egger (she will lay blue, green or pink eggs) 11 weeks old

    Gertrude - Henrietta's "sister" - Easter-Egger 11weeks old also

    Elvira - Black Sex-link 10weeks old

Phoebe - white Silkie 8weeks old

I'm lovin' the chickies!! They help relieve alot of stress. Each of these girls have a "sister" and I also have two Barred Rocks. Didn't get a very good pic of either one of them tho. They moved too fast today!

Love all your blooms and chicks, but Frederika is beautiful and Phoebe, adorable. Animals are amazing at 'Soothing the soul"

The roses are gorgeous! I love English Perfume and Stainless Steel. I must track those down! Consider me enabled. Ha!

The chickens are beautifully marked, too. What color will the little white fuzzy chick turn?

Great picture Henrik! Looks like in your cooler temps AG has deeper coloring. Mine is more pastel in these 90-100° temps! She'll probably get deeper coloring for me in the Fall.

April, ENGLISH PERFUME is only available at Roses Unlimited. I think I got AMAZING GRACE from Rogue Valley Roses. (just helping to enable you some more...) LOL

Chris, little Phoebe is a banty chicken, meaning she and her sister Angelica will be smaller than the other chickens when they get fully grown. She will be just as she is now colorwise. White. Silkies come in several colors... white, black, buff, blue, and then there's mixed colors. Silkies have black skin, legs and beaks, and feathered legs and feet. They also have 5 toes instead of 4, like most chickens. They're very interesting chickens, and supposed to be very friendly and docile, and good mothers. My little girls are sweet, but very skiddish, due to them being 2-3weeks younger than the older birds. They get chased and pecked at by the older ones. They're at the bottom of the pecking order. But they grew up with the Golden-laced Wyandottes (Frederika and Josephine). The Wyandottes are their protectors. They take the brunt of the pecking and chasing so that the silkies can get away. Unfortunately, I'm afraid Josephine may be a rooster. She/he is quite a bit bigger than Fred, and has the rooster strut... and also is the real protector of the silkies. It's fun watching them all grow up and get their little personalities.

Oh, those lavenders! I'm really into lavender roses this year! But then Ginger Rogers is awfully nice also.

And Princess Anne is looking marvelous!

Henrik--beautiful pic of that light pink rose. Is it also Amazing Grace, or have I misunderstood the conversation?

Beth, I've never seen such pretty chickens. I'm glad the silkies have protectors. Why do you say "unfortunately" Josephine might be a rooster? Did you want only females?

dublinbay: Thanks, yes that is also Amazing Grace.

Jasmine, we are not allowed to have roosters where we live, even tho it's semi-rural. It's the noise factor. I know you can get "no-crow" collars to put on the roosters to keep them from crowing as loudly as normal. I think they work pretty well, from the reviews I've seen on Amazon. Might have to do that. I don't want to get rid of him if that's the case. He'd most likely be dinner for whoever takes him.

Thanks, Beth. I imagine you need to live a great distance from neighbors with a rooster, because they don't just crow in the morning. There are some reviews on Amazon warning not to put the no-crow collars on too tight, because a few people lost their crows. Your chickens have grown quickly, so I guess you will find out soon if "Josephine" is really "Joe".

The roses are gorgeous, as always, but the chickens - ! I showed them to DH who grew up on a chicken farm in the San Gabriel Valley. I always tell him we can't have any fowl here, but these photos made me think again. Mmm -- fresh eggs!
