I don't know if you will be guaranteed to get plants like the parent as it could have been pollinated by another plant in the area. Can Adeniums self pollinate, I'm sure the answer to that is somewhere here in the forum?

Stuart, it will be interesting to follow the seedlings through their stages of growth as I'm sure you will get these to that critical flowering stage rather quickly given your knowledge and climate.....in fact much quicker than I ever could!

Considering your location, Stuart, I think this is the genuine Adenium obesum, quite possibly uncontaminated by cross/hy/backcrosshi/breeding with other cultivars. As such it is almost a guarantee you will get offspring true to the mother plant.

Good morning Conny! My guess is that they may well have germinated under the mix, judging by the look of the pot of seeds shown in the first pic? No doubt Stuart will let us know. No one has managed to get true albinos to survive for long as they can't photosynthesise on their own. Even ones with green seed leaves that then develop a couple of sets of non green leaves don't make it :-(

Stuart, my personal thoughts are that I think they will grow. They should soon green up, they may well be tall and thin at the moment, but given time they should be no different to the others given your good growing conditions. It's not the same as if you are dealing with a bigger etiolated plant. It will be interesting to see how they fare compared to the others...we have good clear pics so we can maybe compare their respective development in a month or so eh?

That's its name, Stuart. It's the wild stock from which cultivars were made.

I don't know that any cultivar is rare except when they are new and have not been widely sold. Even rare cultivars eventually become common because adeniums do well when grafted.

The tree you posted looks very much like the ones on my aunt's property. My mom's adenium (the one I air-layered) came from those trees. Is this the same flower?

Wow! They're very similar but not exactly. Yours has sharper, darker coloring, especially at the rim, with strong dark leaders in the throat. The throat on mine is yellow with pink leaders, not as pronounced.

Stuart I love the color as it blends from one to the other. The throat is very nice also.
