Today's C&S Show, may be a little OT

To keep this relevant I will post BigF + Kamraimorrakod, which is an Adenium. The rest are mostly caudiciforms. Warning, you may see images that are not Adeniums!

Hit the post by accident. I'm just getting started.

For some reason I find myself drawn to Euphorbia again and again.

Call this the oddball, I just thought it was cute. Until I wore its whiskers. It's not as cute anymore.

    Hey look! Another pot.

This is what I brought home, thought I did okay. Spent more than I intended (again).

And now for the show plants...couple of Honorable Mentions for yours truly. But the competition was tough and I see that I was under creative. Next year I will rock this show. With a little less top dressing. Why can't Houzz make bulk uploading photos easier? UGH. Sorry for the square photos, didn't notice it was on until I started getting through the show plants.

No wins, Sandy. But my Adeniums sold well. There were only 6 remaining this afternoon and we have a full day still tomorrow.

Here is my seedling in all of it's brown-leafed glory.

Oh My. First of all. Did you come home with those Cristate forms and the Pachypodiums above in your hand. My, I would have been bouncing off the walls looking at all of these. So much to take in. What a treat, Tracy.

What a nice group to become involved with.

Yes that was my show booty from today. Thanks Rick I was quite excited to get first picks this year since I am a member! I am hoping to resist the temptation tomorrow, since I am working at the event again. These folks have some impressive collections, I am just getting to learn about each of them and what they grow. They are coming out to my place to photograph my growing setup (outdoors and in) to use in my program I am presenting at our August meeting. I am glad i found this group, it's a rather large club with a ton of growing experience.

Thanks Stuart! I just realized I didn't photograph any of the cacti. There were just as many of those but I ran out of picture taking steam partway through. And I had to get to my post.

I'm going to whine for just a moment. It was bittersweet to see the winning seedling in a 4x4 plastic greenhouse container. UGH. For real.

Wow thanks for taking the time and sharing. I will have to look a club up in my area. I would love to know the name of a few of those. Hope you had fun even while you worked.

Is your second picture first post pachypodium saundersii? That's been on my list a while. I'd like to join a club like this here in texas. There are a few very nice specimen's in your pics. And a lot of good specimens. Time is on your side, your adeniums will grow.

Todd its a Pachypodium brevicaule. I bought two of them because I couldn't have just one. They are both grafted onto a stronger pachy rootstock so I might actually keep them alive.

Wow, I never been to a show like that....what an eye candy.

    Tracy...how many you bought?

So many beautiful and one of a kind plant.

I've never been, either, Marie. I think the only C&S club near me is deeply comatose or operating in secret.

You're going to have to keep sharing, Trace

Thanks Marie! I bought 8 plants. I did find an Adenium socotranum (True) but it was more than I wanted to spend today. I have been going to their shows for about the last 5 years as a patron, it was cool to be a part of it this year.

Pagan they do other fun events throughout the year on location. Cass Bonsai, the place I visited for pots the other day is one of their "on location" spots. I will try to get more photos tomorrow.

Also, I am working my way into the St. Louis Bonsai club's upcoming Tropical Workshop. I have some Adeniums that need wiring and I need the help of the experts so I don't mess up my plants. Would you say this is being an opportunist? Or just plain good timing?!

    P. S. I really home that True Soco is gone before I get there tomorrow.

Marica if you go to the Cactus and Succulent Society of America site I believe it lists all affiliated chapters.

Congratulations on the HM's Tracey. I fully understand the frustration seeing the winner was just in a plastic pot. The place must be like paradise....

As for the soco: if you sell your remaining adeniums today and the soco is still there, it was meant to be; waiting for you to take it home, go for it

Thanks Conny. The place is amazing, like a museum of LIVING art!

Tracy, I'm so jealous! They are all beautiful. I can't even pick a favorite!

So I misunderstood the ribbons. Both of my entires took second place!!!

That is truly fantastic!!! (and even more reason to but the soco if it's still there, to celebrate ;-)

I can't believe I didn't realize til today that I won 2nd on both entries. The reason for the confusion is there are several of the same color awarded in some categories. Example there can be 2 2nd place plants.
    The Soco is gone.

Some very nice specimens....Bursera, Uncarina, Operculicarya, et al. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Fantastic, Tracy. There you go. All your efforts putting them together turned out to be well worth it. Just nice to be a part of something like that.

    What's next on the agenda.

Day 2, round 2. Apologies if there are any duplicates from yesterday. It was an overload of the senses and difficult to recall what I have already posted.

Thank you Rick. You know it was awesome even before I knew about the ribbons, this was just icing on the cake. It was a complete experience that I wish all of my garden friends can try at least once.

Now I feel like a complete brat for making the comment about the container.

These plants are all so appealing and you would have to have a huge area to house them. I have to stick with a few other Genus and my Adeniums.

When I go to the C&S Nursery about 1 Hr. away, it is so hard to walk away without anything. I always feel like I have not seen everything when I leave.

On pic 16 it is tied in a knot like Stuart is doing. Me of little faith. It works, no cracks.. :-)

Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you all like the photos. I tried to get names included today where possible.

Most of these folks with these entries all have rather large greenhouses that they heat through the winter to keep these collections in. I can't even think about beginning to collect Euphorbias. The few I have will serve and give me options for entering in future shows. I couldn't help but pick up another 3 plants today. (Smirks).

The True Socotranum was gone already. I didn't know that this particular vendor gives our club members a 20% discount which would put the plant in my range. The nursery is about 55 miles from home so I could still make a trip there and find another this summer, perhaps even have the opportunity to select from a few different choices and still use my discount.

Tracy you know if you go there and you know you'll go broke but Happy :-) It still would be a nice day trip

Wow, you clearly had an even better day yesterday, Tracy. Shame the soco had gone, but good to read that the seller is not too far away.

I would have needed a truck coming home from that place by the way :-)

Thanks Conny. Thank you Roger. Rick, thank you. I have plenty of time to get the Soco. My collection is so diverse already that there is no rush to have every type. I haven't even shown you all what I already have. I recently picked up a crested DHA which hasn't leafed yet. I just received a Dorset Horn Medusa from my friend Mao since those sent from Thailand last month died in transit. I got a huge box of Big F hybrids that haven't been planted yet. A few of those will be sold. There is plenty of time for adding to.
I did buy some other succulents yesterday . I bought a Hoodia Gordoni and a Gymno with some tiny blooms.

Tracy when you build your greenhouse let me know maybe I can help I think I see one coming soon
