Total Newbie!

We purchased a new home that had been vacant for 2 years and obviously had no landscaping for a few years prior to that. We took lots of pictures and a sketch of the front of our house to a local nursery and he suggested some plants and where to put them. We started small just to get the house looking loved (3 knock out roses, 3 green gem boxwoods) with the intentions of taking new pictures and new sketches up as time and budget allow. The last addition was a Limelight Hydrangea in tree form. It just went into the ground yesterday. I planted it, used Holly-Tone fertilizer on it and water it well. It already had some tiny buds forming when we got it from the nursery. It has been planted on the northwest corner of my house. I don't know a whole lot about gardening/flowers, I had none at my last place.

My question to you experts is, what next? Do I prune it this fall? Do I have to cover it over the winter? Do I need to fertilize it any more this year? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks in advance!
