My Darcy is in her second flush and is 2 years old. She holds up pretty well in the heat. She's in the ground and gets full sun from about 12-4pm.

Thanks. I'm not really a fan of red, but I do like this kind of red. Lisa

Beautiful blooms! I have a Darcey Bussell, second year, and even though it hasn't bloomed a lot, the blooms are much improved from last year, and I am anticipating that it will keep improving. It's a lovely rose! Gorgeous bouquet too!

Your Darcey is beautiful! It is one rose with a lot of charm. How tall now? I am growing one Darcey in a pot and am considering putting a few in the garden but actually hope it will get a bit larger than the height posted on DA website. I need something 3 1/2 to 4 ft.

Thanks all. It's really nice to have fellow roses lovers to share my excitement with. My children never notice what's blooming or cut flowers in the house. This forum really has been wonderful.

Dave, My Darcy is already at about 4 ft tall. I cut back a few canes (just a little) today when I cut some of the blooms for that bouquet. I got her hoping for a smallish bush. I have her in a very small triangular shaped bed. I always meant to put a standard tree rose there, but I couldn't find one and got impatient. In my climate, so far every David Austin I have grown grew quite a bit larger than the DA site said it would. I think our climates are so different though, it would be apples to oranges. I really don't get any winter here at all. SanDiego County, California, Lisa

Gorgeous! I love it with the stargazer lilies.

Thanks, Lisa! Most DA's grow much larger here than advertised but I'm sure not even close to what many do there. This is the odd time I actually want it to grow a bit larger :) Thanks, again!

Thanks all. I'm very pleased with Darcey so far. I do wish it would last a bit longer in the vase. I usually get at least 3-4 days before some of the more mature blooms begin dropping petals. They sure hold up better when I'm running the A/C. I don't blame them. I hold up better running the A/C too!

Carol I bought the vase for a song last summer. The house down the street was having a moving sale. I spotted that vase instantly and made a beeline for it. It had a piece of masking tape on it that read "$5.00". I asked the man if he knew anything about it. He told me it had been his deceased mothers vase and she'd had it "as long as he could remember". I was horrified and asked if perhaps he might ought to keep it. "Nope" was his response. "I'm not dragging her old nicknacks across the country". I felt guilty, but if I hadn't bought it someone else would have. At least I'm using it and treasure it. I think that's better than it going to someone who would resell it for a quick buck. I did ask his mothers name. It was Helen. Lisa

I'm getting some spotting of the leaves on mine.

Thank you. The only thing that makes it not quite perfect is the opening at the top. It's pretty narrow so I can't put too many stems in at once. Other than that, it's perfect. It's also very heavy, so I think it may be real silver.

Real silver! You got a bargain!!! I'm glad you're putting it to such good use. :)
