July 12 Tea Time

After the cooker of a day yesterday, today is pretty nice! I had thought if it was as hot and humid I would turn on the air but it's not going to be necessary. Still, an iced tea day.

I picked an ice cream bucket of beans. I HATE stemming them and everything to do with them after they're picked. I'll plant the garden, keep it weeded and pick everything but I need a partner who will process the produce I bring into the house. I have no peaches or plums this year. I think one of the frosts must have gotten them but I have apricots, pears and apples so............?

Wow, I'mhappy, that is a big building. I can empathize with spending money on things like this. It looks like a pretty nice building, though, and definitely worth keeping up. It's just hard to spend the money on it, isn't it? At least it gives you some storage options.

Your produce sounds delicious. It's been really hot and humid here too. I only got the backyard cut the other day and was going to do the front today but I decided it's too hot.

I did have lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant with my sister today. That was fun and delicious!! It's gotten kind of dark and windy outside now, so maybe we are going to get a storm. Maybe it will break the heat some.

But I am sitting here, in front of my fan, a/c on, and it's pretty comfortable. The dogs and cat are sleeping. Peace reigns!!

Hello! I finally made it for tea, after missing last week. We got a cool spell and I've been trying to get our kitchen garden planted. It's July, so we're planting some fall veggies and lots of annuals. My poor plants have been on the porch for the last few months, so they're just happy to be in the ground : )

Today, I'm launching my online business, which sells unique and wonderful collectible items, such as tea cups and saucers! If you have a chance, please check out my little shoppe and let me know what you think. I'm also going to put this as a separate post with the info, but the link is below.

ImHappy, Great Barn/storage building. I always felt the need to save a building if it were at all worth saving.

Murraysmom. I am always happy in our house when peace reigns. We got home from the chemo lounge after having to wait for the doctor for over 1 1/2 hour past appointment time. Then an hour and a half to run the chemo for Joe. Then we boogied home as soon as we could get here not stopping for fuel or groceries. I will have to make a second trip down and also take the rest of the dump stuff. I have been trimming and bagging trees. I will be taking all of this in the car so will spread a sheet down first.

It is raining here again. Why we left the dog in the house. Lightening was predicted. He was very happy to see us after being gone for almost 6 hours. Well now the car is unloaded the rain stopped but tree is still dripping and I changed clothes because I got wet.

LL I left you a message on your other post about your new site. Pretty stuff. I suggested to make the tiny pictures on the main page click to a bigger picture. I did see you did it at the bottom after going back but if I were shopping I would rather see the photo big and small and price all together. Including shipping is a good idea.

I am pooped out for all we got done before leaving and the three shopping stops before the chemo lounge. I am drinking green cinnamon mix tea. Very good. Hubby raving about it.

Editing to add: I forgot to do show and tell. LOL I finally finished crocheting a little purple rug for beside my bed I think and also bought two of these darling elephant pillow covers..

Today my tea time was out at a French restaurant with a friend. I had ice tea with my mussels and frites.

My friend has been packing up her house, while still looking to buy a house. Very stressful, so this quiet elegant restaurant was just the thing for us to do today.

Eld, your tea time sounds delicious! What a nice way to spend some unwinding time.

Shades, your rug and elephants are adorable. I love the colors.

Lavender, I left you a suggestion too on your other post. Really lovely things you are offering. Good luck.

OH Eld your little get away sounds delightful. Hope your foot is feeling better.

Had to post an extra tea guest as I am still drinking hot tea tonight. I was writing to ML and looked up out living room door window and this guy was dining on a sagebrush on the hill.

Lavender Lass best wishes on your new shop. Pretty things, too, just right for tea. I tend to coffee but enjoy tea sometimes. I was able to weed last evening when it was cooler (zone 10b). Cleaned house in anticipation of dinner guests (plans changed but now house is nice and clean) and listened to a lot of music while wiping down those bathroom tiles and swishing the toilets. Reading Beard's SPQR aloud to DH and whipping through some pretty good YA fiction, Small as an Elephant, To be Honest and now Wild Robot.

Hi folks; I've been so busy and stressed. I'm sorry I couldn't make the proper teatime.

I'm Happy - I'll take those pesky green beans off your hands, LOL. That is my favorite food ever. When Mom was pregnant with me she could not get enough green beans; she craved them constantly. The first solid food she fed me was green bean baby food. She said I went wild for it.

To this day I devour green beans that are prepared any way at all - from raw to gourmet; I will eat all I can hold, but I cannot eat all I want - there's simply not enough room even in my Rubenesque middle!

I love that barn. Oh the things Wes and I could and would store in there!

Murray's Mom - if you want a break from the heat, drop in here. It was 58 when I got up and then dropped to 56. Cloudy, rainy, windy. Great weather for breathing!

Lavender Lass - I have five Wave petunias, eight impatiens, three geraniums, another thumbergia vine, and two Diamond Frost euphorbias still waiting to get in the ground. It's just too swampy out there. The are in larger pots and seem to be holding their own on the potting bench, but still...

I signed up for your blog!

Shades - I love that crocheted rug. Do you care to share the instructions and how you made the "thread?" I can see you translating those wonderful elephants into stained glass! What a beautiful buck!

Eld6161 - I'd love to go to a French restaurant! The closest I've come was having a French/Vietnamese room mate while I was stationed in Spain. She was in the U.S. Air Force, too, and was a meteorologist. (I was in Public Affairs). That poor gal could not even boil water, but she loved my cooking.

We were the best room mates ever; of course we worked different shifts, had different days off, went out with totally different "types" of men, and hardly ever saw one another. I'd leave cooked meals with re-heating instructions in the fridge. She always did my laundry, and ironed my uniforms (!) when she did hers, so it was all good. We shared a 4-bedroom high-rise apartment in Zaragoza. It was a wonderful life.

The dollar was very strong in Spain at the time. We paid a pittance for our apartment, which had marble floors! Of course, marble was a "common" flooring material there, wood would have been expensive. But still, I had marble floors, marble baseboards, a fully-tiled, as in wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling, bathroom and kitchen. It was a hoot.

Later on she married a cardiologist. The first thing he did for her was to send her to a culinary school. She and I still laugh about that.

Wordie89 - I love to be read to! What a joy you must be to your hubby.

From last Thursday until Tuesday we received 5 and 3/10s inches of rain. I emptied the guage yesterday and now have over a half-inch again.

Caroline . Thanks on the rug and pillow. The rug is simply strips about an inch wide cut from a sheet and a weird roll of bias tape I had to split because the fabric strip was too wide. I used a large hook. K or J I will have to get it out to look.

I used these instructions on youtube. I would make the center chain longer to make the rug a longer rectangle. If this is what you want. I just wanted to do the rug and had the stuff to do it with. I put it beside the bed on my side. Hubby can not have a bed side rug. It is too hard for him to deal with. I suppose the dig will take over my rug. Time will tell. It is not as soft as his bed. LOL This was easy to do and I worked on it when I sat to rest or watch TV with hubby. It kept me sitting. Otherwise I do not last long sitting to watch TV.

I craved green beans with my daughter. They are also her favorite vegetable now. I can take them or leave them. I'll have to pick Sunday and after that I don't know. If it gets as hot as they say, I will have to plan carefully. If they get too big I might dry them. The chickens don't care for them so no point in thinking they will eat them. Or they might fall into the compost pile.
