My darling 15-18-year-old grafted Sonia is biting the dust.

I took cuttings of several roses nearly 2 years ago and one unlabeled lingerer hadn't done much until producing a bud a few weeks ago.

I believe I have effectively resurrected Sonia! I only hope her own roots will be winter-hardy here. I'll keep her potted - I put her in a bigger pot today - until late summer and see how her root system has developed before I risk planting her out in the garden.

But I'm so pleased! I worked as a florist in our family business through my youth and Sonia was a favorite standard florist rose. My fond memories make me really want to always have her in my collection!

Her elegance presents anew with every unfurling bud - I adore her.

Wow! What a coincidence!! I have had this rose on my mind for several weeks now!! This rose was in my wedding bouquet many years ago. I am trying to locate her for my rose garden. Every place I find her, she's sold out!! Truly a beautiful rose!!

Takes me back to my wedding day. It was in April and the color of Sonia was my main color along with a pretty spring green. Bridesmaids wore the peachy, soft apricot/ pink color. To this day, that color is one of my favorite rose colors. Thanks so much for sharing her with us!!

'Sonia' is a beauty. My father paired her with the intensely yellow 'Henry Fonda' and they actually looked well together!
