Too late to grow ginger root?

I would like to try ginger again from some root and I saw some on sale the other day. But Im in England and its July already. Probably got 2 1/2 more months of good growing time before winter begins to set in and it would kept in a cold greenhouse. Can the root be stored again for the following year?

The store bought ginger was so stubborn to grow that it shoot out a nice healthy green tip just a couple of weeks back. So finally, instead of using it in cooking, I put it the ground.. It's still growing very well. So my guess is, you are still ok.. Even if, it just shoots and does not grow big, I would say, keep it in for the next season... Good luck.

I think a cold greenhouse might be an issue. I keep mine outside in a pot. It's happy with a winter in the forties
