It is Laeliinae Hybrid Unknown. There are more than 24,000 registered "Cattleya" and "Cattleya Intergenerics" names kept in the hybrid register in England.

You might get lucky if it is a widely distributed Mericlone (Copy) but looks a bit like is not close enough!

"but looks a bit like is not close enough!" Is your photo true to colour? The orchid in the photo in the link is Lc. Lory Ann x Jungle Flare and the colour is different.

24,000 registered Hybrids plus variation within each crossing as every plant raised from seed will have different blooms makes the task very difficult.

If they make a copy (mericlone) there will be thousands of copies and that is your only chance of getting and id. But modern marketing cuts cost and you get plants called "Cattleya orchid" or "Phalaenopsis orchid" and so on as a tag.

Not true to color I suppose. They tend to over-edit photos.

As for the colour, even some modern cameras have trouble with orchid purples.

It doesn't matter all that much if the orchid doesn't have a name. The orchid judges will still judge it in a show, but you cannot get a cultural award and Parent Unknown is not good if you want to use it for breeding.

Of course I am only talking about Australian Orchid Judges, might be different rules in other parts of the world.

What am I talking about? Consider the photos of the two orchids below. They are siblings out of the same seed pod. So they both have the same registered name. Complex ancestry leads to variation.
