Chinese Lantern - contained?

I bought a small Chinese Lantern plant about 2 weeks ago - memories of my childhood of those cute little orange lanterns... only to read that the plant can be extremely invasive so it's best to put it in a pot and plant the pot in the ground. So, that's what I did.

I also did that with a chocolate mint plant years ago and found pieces of chocolate mint still springing up elsewhere.

Now I'm wondering if I should pull it back out and perhaps just let it grow in a large container instead? I am putting in a brand new garden this year with much trial and error. We have an invasive ivy type weed we're battling... I don't want to intentionally add to the battle!
