Cantaloupe time!

I know we rave here about the first ripe tomato and rightfully so. However for me possibly the next best is a perfectly ripe Cantaloupe and I am going to have a bunch! First one got gobbled up this morning. I imaging you can argue that the first ripe"fill in the blank" would be the same. Now that I really think about it we had our first ripe nectarine, and probably today or tomorrow a peach and those arent too shabby either. It continues to amaze me how good things taste our of your own back yard. Blessed are the ones who sow a seed and reap a harvest!

I am envious of nectarines and peaches. Did you get through th wind ok?

Amy. What kind of funny is I have 5 peach trees and 2 nectarine. I got 1 nectarine and 1 peach. Worst part is those came from trees I got and planted this spring. My older ones produced only a few but they got some bad bugs. Oh well maybe next year will be the big crop.

we did ok. Lots of people around us lost power for a couple days. We had power the whole time. Go pretty lucky.

It is hard to argue against the idea that the first cantaloupe is yummy, and possibly yummier than the first tomato. Tomatoes are special in their own way, but they aren't the same as first sweet luscious melon, nectarine or peach! Glad you didn't have damage or lose power.
