And herein lies the problem with common names :-)) Royal trumpet vine, Distictis x riversii, is NOT the same plant as the trumpet vine referred to in most of these threads, Campsis radicans!! And what's more, it doesn't seem to share any of the other trumpet vine's bad habits. It is a large woody, evergreen climber that is only hardy in warmer (Z9 and above) zones. Although I have never grown it myself, I doubt you will have many problems with it but it might be appropriate to run it by the gardeners in your regional forum to see what they have to say. But be sure to include the botanical name in your inquiry or you may get the same confusion!!
