As there are thousands of ways Open concept can be taken...size of the room, walls, etc., where the windows and doors are - I suggest you contact a local designer who can help with all of this. Consider an interior designer a "one-stop-shop" for what you're asking for. They can help with the furniture and placement, colors, rugs, lighting, any cabinetry (entertainment center, bookshelves), etc. We could be making suggestions for a 10x10 room or we could be making suggestions for a room that's more of a great room and far larger. Furniture that's too large or small for the space won't do you any good at all!
