Specifically, abelia grandiflora ( kaleidoscope) that we planted across the front (west) side of our house about a year ago. At first they all did great and some of them still are, but two (that get the most sun) are dying off, and couple of the others are thinning out. When I say "get the most sun" they are all shaded by the house until afternoon. The failing plants just get a little more of the afternoon sun. The plant tag says: sun to light shade, moist well drained acidic soil and they have all that. I have my irrigation system set to give them 15 min every morning, in fact I was wondering if they were getting too much water, BUT they all get the same and some are doing just fine. I plan to dig up the failing plants, pot them in clean mix, and put them in the "intensive care" ward (scattered shade most of the day) to see if I can spark a recovery. Any additional ideas would be appreciated. Papa Jim
