You can grow them with other plants but I don't see why you would want to. I live in Florida and my orchids are constantly filled with ferns and weeds which require pulling them out (easier said then done). Many of the ferns are popular up north as house plants but in Florida are considered weeds. Almost impossible to keep them away.

To get back to your original question, you can leave your orchid growing with other plants but understand they will compete for food, water and light. You haven't said what the other plants are.

Jane, I have no idea what they are. They were in the pot (as very tiny seedlings I guess) when I bought the plant. I wasn't sure if the growers added them for a purpose, as I said above, to maybe help to break down the potting medium or something like that. But I have a feeling they are just greenhouse weeds that hitched a ride on my plant. I think I'll just yank them out. The orchid is doing fine, and has just made a new bulb/section.

Probably weeds. Pull them out.
