Thank you both. It doesn't look exactly like the parent, but the fact that they are Picotee is huge in my book! Here is a photo of the parent Zaftig Moon from Mr. Ko's web site.

I am also hoping for some picotee flowers from a black edged red and white picotee hybrid I have seed coming from. Not from Ko but from Rinoa.

Thank you Latin Lady. I have expanded my garden a little this year and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Rick thanks, I like this flower better too! I am really pleased to get some Picotee and the edges are so sweet. I have a community pot full of them and so far two have bloomed.

Thanks Martin. Real pleased with the result. I did see the mosquito just as I snapped the pic. The mosquitos are rampant here especially this time of year. Just watering my plants daily I am losing pints of blood. Here is a snap from today, it's Dino King. One of my favorite blooms.

I agree with what Rick said. Your first one has a very promising dark purple edge hinted at that will hopefully get stronger. Very nice.

No new blooms yet yo report. But these Arabicums are all fat and getting repotted today.

Nice chubby fellas Tracy! How old are they?

I'm new to desert roses and only have noids from the big box stores. I've had some for 2-3 years and still no blooms no matter what I do. Can someone please tell me how to get mine to bloom? I'm just dying to see a flower already. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sandy! I need to repot many to be honest. These guys are little chubby wubbys. These are between 9 and 11 months, the oldest being the far right. Long overdue for a repot.

Gloria they need lots of sun and water and warm temperatures to bloom.

Some of my groups also suggest a little bloom booster fertilizer, but quite diluted. That whole 'feed weakly, weekly' ratio. I've also heard others say that some abuse like a dry spell, and stripping off their leaves, then slowly watering a little later may encourage flowering. I'm rather new to them myself so someone else may need to jump in here. Do yours go dormant over winter, Gloria?

"Chubby wubbys"... *LOL* But what's a whubby? :-D A Big Whopper sort of plant? ;-) I love 'em!

Thanks, guys. I do appreciate your suggestions. So far I've tried fish emulsion, bloom booster, cactus & succulent fertilizer, even tomato food. They're getting 6-7 hrs of direct sunlight and temps ranging from mid 80's to high 90's. I even tried the dry spell. And yes, they go dormant in winter.

"Chubby Wubby" is a new species of adenium..

Sandy the name has worn off many of my plant tags outside. I will soon be calling them Chubby Wubby #1, CW#2, CW#3.... My permanent ink didn't withstand the elements as well as it should have.

Gloria, 6 to 7 hours of direct sun may not be enough. I could be wrong and others here will know better than I, but 6 hours is pretty much the bare minimum for a lot of plants to bloom. One that is based out of an arid region nearer the equator is by it's nature going to be used to a lot longer sun exposure. Any chance you can kick that up longer? Even a small increase might be enough to trigger them.

I just saw that mosquito, Tracy lol I hate those suckers. I don't mind leeches but mosquitoes just get to my nerves.

Thanks for your feedback everyone, I really like it now. The first time it was a weaker bloom but this one is great. I am considering potting this one in something pretty and putting her with the big boys. Tomorrow is my Adenium presentation at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. I am putting the finishing touches on the program today. Was planning to take some Adeniums with me for show and tell but its raining now. UGH.

Determined not to throw away seedlings at the end of the season. Monday I will be photographing everyone that i have outside and selling them on my Facebook page. Waiting for each one to bloom is just not practical. Selling plants is a ton of work, selling and packing seedlings is even more labor intensive. I'm hoping one big push Monday and Tuesday will clear many of those out.

Haven't been on, sorry friends. Been processing plants after a successful seedling sale. The storms have made these dudes heavy! Check out the roots on these babies.

Thanks a bunch Rick! Now I must hurry up and wait for them to dry. I am now realizing that my guesstimates for weight and shipping cost are going to be way off. I am used to guesstimating shipping weights for Arabicum with small roots. Once they dry I can remove some of the mass but I am sure shipping is going to be more than I charged my customers. Live and learn.

The Adenium presentation was a smashing success at the Missouri Botanical Garden. I didn't get a video unfortunately. We also got to view the Corpse Flower bloom opening just before my presentation. What a day. I could hardly sleep Sunday night after all of the excitement.
