bad backsplash?

When we were deciding the backsplash for the bath, the light blue algae seemed like a good idea. not sure how I feel now with the light backsplash over dark background. never seen something like this, can this have a bad resale value? any workarounds maybe put a dark grout border, anything that can be stuck and removed easily?

I think it will be fine. I like the idea of playing with a paint with a blue in it.

I feel like it looks out of place like you should have made the band around the shower the width of the shampoo insert. and you should add more above the sink like at least one more row of it.

what do you think of the colors though?it doesnt seem to match well, unfortunately this is a set design by the builder. maybe i can buy some backsplash stick ons? any suggestions on colors that wont make it look worse and make them match somewhat?

Pull the blue out by using that shade of towels or other accessories and it won't seem like such a disconnect to you. It's all you are seeing now because you don't have much else to draw your eye.

I think you need a cooler wall color. Once the bathroom is finished, mirrors and whatnot, it will be fine.

Personally I like it. Install looks good, although I would have gone an additional 6" above the shower head.
The deco looks good in shower above the niche but gets lost on the counter top because it blends too well with the wall.

there will be a mirror sitting over the tile on the vanity, right? I think it looks fine! At first glance, I thought the strip on the vanity should be bigger, but with a mirror over it, it will be fine. I don't think the color looks bad either - maybe it's more subtle in the picture than in reality?

It looks a bit unfinished. I would frame it with a tile or stone "pencil". Miter the corners and try to get the sides even with the counter edges. (You may need to rework the edges of the glass a bit)

I think the color is fine. It's soothing and bright next to the darkness. I'd keep it.

yes its still unfinished and looks subtle in the picture than in real. I should research potential paint colors. and its just one big square mirror for the entire vanity

Remodels always look scary at this stage. Wait till the glass doors are in & accessories done. Overall it looks fine. Rainwashed would indeed be a good color. The current wall color makes it look funky.

I agree w/tilediva. Color is fine, I like it. Something is missing on the vanity portion. Her idea of a pencil liner or something is spot on. Just needs some oomph somewhere.

Why don't you paint the wall a light, watery blue inspired by the blue in the tile and use accessories in a similar tone to pull the look together? I think it will work once the room is completed and accessorized.

this is how it looks after completion. thanks to all. still needs the paint but the colors seem to pop out more now. the picture doesnt show how bright it looks.
