Carol your roses and other flowers look fantastic! I love everyone of them, but I think Zaide is gorgeous. Would love to know your opinion on it and the others too!

Only one of your blooms is slightly out of focus. The others are lovely. I have a balance problem and had to buy a monopod and also a small bendable/collapsable selfie stick.

Zaide - is a new bareroot this year. This is its first bloom. I like the fragrance - rose with a touch of apple. So far not all that strong, but nice. Fragrance usually doesn't come into my roses for a few years. It's really pretty and the petals seem very tight - not loosey goosey.

Parfume de Grasse - really lovely! The veining is amazing! The color can be see a ways off. Another bareroot for this year. No fragrance yet.

Betty White - a wonderful rose! The camera picks up the thrips marks that I couldn't see when I was in the yard. This is the first year that the blooms haven't been ruined by thrips. I've used the cup/oil method - but it was hard to keep them oiled since we had so much rain. The fragrance is rosey and strong. Flowers last a long while

The McCartney Rose - new last year. Fragrance is amazing - pure rose. There are many flowers, and they last a long time. Every blossom looks and smells great.

Belinda's Dream - new this year (bareroot). I was surprised at how large the blooms are. The fragrance is really nice. I was worried that there wouldn't be enough fragrance - but there is. It's on the softish side - but worthwhile.

Olivia Rose Austin - new bareroot this year. Fragrance is very nice at times. The bush is very vigorous, and has grown to 3 feet which is unusual for a bareroot here.

Lady Like - has stayed short for me, but next year will be its 3rd year in my yard. Right now it has about 3 blooms with 8 more buds. The flowers last for a long time and smell very strongly of perfume. I really like this rose.

Barone Edmund de Rothschild - was a bare root 2 years ago. Wasn't too impressed with it. I've had one bloom that entire time, and it wasn't nice. However, now, it has about 5 blooms and 10 more coming. No fragrance yet. I really am glad I kept it.

Acapella - bareroot 2 years ago. The fragrance is wonderful - like banana marshmallow candies. This is the first year that the blooms look nice. Bush is still small, but I'm hoping for better for this.

I think that Betty White is my favorite. It's a wonderful rose. I'm hoping for good things from my young roses.

Love your description of Acapella's fragrance! And I thought the fuzzy pic was intentionally focussed on the front petals - larger aperture = shallower depth of field - and you captured the colour so well!

I love your garden. And I have the same problem with thrip and 'Betty White'. Since I can't find the disposable cups in the right color I bought a bright yellow hard plastic cup. What stuck looks like gnats. I really don't know what thrips look like. Maybe they're thrip? I can barely see any damage on your Betty. She's gorgeous.

Thanks, Dave! I really like the look of that one too. There are tons of buds - maybe around 15 - which is pretty awesome for a bareroot rose!

Irisgal - And in person, I can't see any damage. So I'm really loving this rose!! I also am using yellow plastic cups as well as some hard plastic blue cups. They all seem to work. I think the tiny gnat things are thrips.

Wow Carol I love your garden! It looks so pretty. I love the iron pieces you have in your first pic. I have quite a few pillars but once the roses get growing good you can only see the tops on some. Do you grow any clematis or any vines on your fence? My poor sister lives beside me and I grow tons of clematis on her fence. Lol. She gets to enjoy them from her side too. Beautiful photos Carol! I too have a bit of a balance problem and sometimes a shaking problem... well not quite "shaking" but maybe "moving" problem! Even with my new camera I end up with lots of out of focus shots. Just makes me so mad at myself. I don't want to resort to dragging a tripod around tho. But I probably should try it sometime.

I love your PARFUM DE GRASSE! Just gorgeous! Mine doesn't do that much of a vein-y thing. I like how yours does that. Must be the difference in climate.

Thanks, Judy! I am probably the only person on the planet who has trouble growing clematis. They keep dying on me. I have one brave survivor in the front yard. I planted two this year. One died. I think maybe just too much rain and hail. You have a lucky sister!! Clematis is such a pretty vine.

Beth - Well, I have it in the nursery. It's an area that gets some sun, but lots of dappled shade. That's where I put all of my bare root roses. So maybe that's why there's veining. :)

I don't get mad - I just laugh as I start to fall over. LOL I can imagine the neighbors shaking their heads at me as they watch - a hazard of low chain link fences. :)

Very nice pics, I thought with all your terrible weather, everything was not doing well. But from these shots; everything looks great! I really like parfum de grasse too! Such lovely colours.

Yes, the terrible weather has/is happened/happening. :) I have lots and lots of roses with no flowers. Those roses are my best roses which is why I put them in that showcase spot. They just keep pumping out the roses.
