It's kinda hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn't look like any thyme I've seen (creeping or otherwise) . In any case, any plant can be a weed if it's growing somewhere you don't want it to.

Creeping thyme would have a strong thyme odor to it.

That looks like "Texas Sage".

Its "horse tooth purselane" its a wild edible succulent. Has a mild lemon zest to it, makes a great ground cover. Its only a weed if you do not want it, my house its salad.
