So what is the dilemma? From what I see, I cannot see one! Lovely colour!

Hi, this colour looks good in the photos, not so good in person! I want something more beachy, and bright.

Would you consider switching from chartreuse green to a soft blue? If yes, we can look at shades that work. I am intrigued as to why this colour is not so good in person. Which direction does the room face? are you in a cool or warm climate? these factors can have a huge difference on colour

It is amazing how a north facing house, despite the light can change colour. Does it seem tern or just "off"? Anway, enough diagnosis! For a blue that might work, I would recommend something with a little silver in it (for that northern light) and look at BM first snowfall or silver mist. Both are light and serene but will work with the white. Paint a lighter tint of the same colour on your ceiling to keep it "warm". Before you do anything though, please test large swatches of the colour on your walls (after primer) and wait a week to see how the colour is affected by the light.

I can't quite decide what that color is.....yellow? Green? Anyhow, I think you should play up the natural light, since the rooms are fairly small. I would paint it all white, to go with your white sofa, then use accesories to add punch. Please see pic.

BM Beach Glass is a wonderful green blue. It would be lovely with your white sofa, oak cabinet, dark cabinets and your rug.

I'm glad the furn is not yours. Too boring. Never put area rug over carpet. I would go gray on all walls incl kitchen. If its all open to each other. Don't break it up.I like Mink from Lowes. Paint trim white. Put long white panels on each side of windows. If more window follow though with same. Do not be afraid of color. Use it throw pillows and art work.

Is the TV going on wall with ottoms?

Donot leave beam white on bottom. Paint whole thing.

The TV is on a small sideboard against the wall where the ottomans were.

Yes, the furniture is the previous owners. It's actually not carpet - it's linoleum tiles! To be changed one day... when the money rolls in... Mink from Lowes - is that their own brand of paint? I have a Lowes a 1 minute drive from my house. The trim will definitely be painted white.

decoenthusiaste - I love the sea glass colours! they are what I have been thinking of all along. I know what I like, but I have no clue what colours to buy.

ASVInteriors - the 2 silvery colours from BM are gorgeous - I think they are better suited for my living room. I want something more beachy for this combo room, and the same for my kitchen.

This is a dining chair and my dining table. The chair is Annie Sloan pure white and the table is a gray (minus the 2 black cats!!) with a milky mix.

what about BM Franklin lakes - it is a bolder colour and more beachy.?

Okay my next shot would be lighter but definitely beachy - it is called blue stream? I am trying to stick with a more solid blue shade than ones that verge on teal or greens or greys as a beachy colour implies the skies that you gaze at when sitting on the sand.

Actually I really like Blue Stream. I think for my kitchen... would look great with the darkish/reddish wood cupboards & stainless steel appliances. One day I will probably paint the cupboards... Thanks!

I like buxton blue or Colorado Gray. I have a north room with western light. I have had a "greyed out" blue (enough black in it to soften the look) and have loved it for 18 years. I think ATV meant that your beam should be painted on the underside where it is showing white.

BM Blue Stream is too light and will almost fade to white in a room with a lot of light. Don't be afraid to be bold. It sets off colours and makes white (like your new sofa) pop...becomes a neutral if it is throughout. Paint your ceilings in the same or a shade lighter.

I think if you put some sheers up, the color won't bother you. Artwork will help also. I really like the color.
